1. The Sixth Schedule to the Supreme Court of Judicature Act 1969 (“SCJA”) prescribes the categories of civil appeals, against decisions of the General Division of the High Court, which are to be made to the Court of Appeal.
2. With effect from 1 February 2023, the Sixth Schedule will be amended, by way of the Supreme Court of Judicature Act 1969 (Amendment of Sixth Schedule) Order 2022, to include a new paragraph 1(ea) as follows:
“(ea) the appeal arises from a case relating to admiralty law or shipping law (even if the appeal does not raise any issue relating to admiralty law or shipping law);”.
3. Therefore, all appeals falling within the new paragraph 1(ea), which are filed on or after 1 February 2023, are to be made to the Court of Appeal.
