Japan and South Korea Joins the Judicial Insolvency Network as Observers

7 February 2018 - The Supreme Court of Japan and the Seoul Bankruptcy Court have nominated judges from their respective jurisdictions as observers to the Judicial Insolvency Network (“JIN”).

2. They are:

  • Judge Daisaku UEHARAI of the Tokyo District Court;
  • Judge Naoyuki IWAI of the Tokyo District Court;
  • Judge Shinji NARITA, director of Civil Affairs Bureau, General Secretariat of the Supreme Court of Japan; and
  • Judge Young Seok KIM of the Seoul Bankruptcy Court.

3. The inclusion of Judge Ueharai, Judge Iwai, Judge Narita and Judge Kim as observers marks yet another milestone in the growth of the JIN as a network of insolvency judges from key commercial jurisdictions and economies. Japan and the Republic of Korea are important Asian and global economies. Participation of their judges signifies the JIN’s commitment to strengthening its fraternity by ensuring key commercial jurisdictions are presented in the network. The network is now represented in North America, Latin America, the Caribbean region, Europe, Australia, and Asia.
