Family Justice Rules 2024
Background
The Family Justice Rules 2024 (FJR 2024) were gazetted on 16 September 2024 and came into operation on 15 October 2024.
The FJR 2024 comprises:
- Family Justice (General) Rules 2024.
- Family Justice (Probate and Other Matters) Rules 2024.
- Family Justice (Protection from Harassment) Rules 2024.
- Family Justice (Criminal Proceedings in Youth Courts) Rules 2024.
The FJR 2024 replaces and revokes the Family Justice Rules 2014 (FJR 2014).
The saving and transitional provisions in FJR 2024 provide, among others, for the FJR 2014 to continue to apply to family proceedings, including appeals, filed before 15 October 2024. Table of Derivations
The Table of Derivations is found at the end of the gazetted version of the Family Justice (General) Rules 2024 and the Family Justice (Probate and Other Matters) Rules 2024. The table reflects the equivalent provisions (if any) in the FJR 2024 as compared to the FJR 2014.
Please note that the Table of Derivations is provided for the convenience of users of the FJR 2024 and does not form part of the FJR 2024. The Table has no legislative effect.
New Practice Directions
The Family Justice Courts Practice Directions 2024 was published on 16 September 2024.
